YOUR QUESTION...
Do I need to have a general anaesthetic for rhinoplasty?
BACKGROUND...

Hi I’m very interested in getting rhinoplasty done on my nose but the only problem is that I don’t being under general anaesthetic, and that's what is putting me off having the surgery done on me. However I was researching the rhinoplasty procedure and I noticed that most of the plastic surgery websites said that a local anaesthetic can be done, on some rhinpoplasty procedures if the patient is only getting the tip of his nose done, but I want my whole nose corrected and a bump to be taken out of my nose. So I was just wondering if this could be done by local anaesthetic and if being under general anaesthetic can be avoided? As I would probably get the rhinoplasty surgery if I could have it done that way.
Thank you!

OUR EXPERT ANSWER...

Hi Jon,
We do not encourage this as it can be stressfull and very uncomfortable for you. You would need to have a consultation with a surgeon. Anaesthesia is very safe today. It is simply like going to sleep with a specialist keeping an eye on you!
