Face Surgery

Facial surgery still remains one of the most popular forms of cosmetic surgery in the UK. These days it is important to look and feel amazing as it can really help boost your confidence.

Your face is your most prominent feature. It is one of the first things people notice when they meet for the first time and being unhappy with your face can cause much unhappiness and insecurities. Appearance plays an important role in people’s lives and it helps when you look in the mirror and feel good about what you see.

There are a number of reasons you may be considering facial surgery. These include:

- Excessive sun exposure
- Premature ageing caused by smoking
- Premature lines and wrinkles
- Unbalanced features

Having surgery can help bring back the fresh, rejuvenated, youthful look you desire. You may also feel self-conscious about a feature, such as your nose or chin, which may make the face look unbalanced.

Either way, there are a range of surgical and non-surgical procedures that can adjust your features to give you the look you want.

  1. QUESTION:

    Hi,
Is it possible to use sculptra / facial fillers to restore volume to the forehead for someone who has prominent contours in this area?

    Many thanks,
    Tom

    1. Sophie on 25.06.2007 at 11:57 (Reply)

      Hi Tom,

It is a possibility but you could not achieve any result with just one treatment. You will need approximately 6. There are thicker products such as derma fillers that would give you an immediate result but you would need lots of product and it is possible that this could be uneven. One of our experts, Christine Davies from MYA Cosmetic Surgery, suggests that you see an experienced non surgical practitioner. They will be able to answer any other questions you may have. Hope this is of help!

I had my top lip done 11yrs ago in america and the doctor put Gortex in it. I would now like to get it removed. Do you know a doctor that can remove it in england that
will not cost a fortune. If I can’t find someone in england,it might be cheaper to go back to the doctor who put it in and get it removed.

    1. Sophie on 30.07.2007 at 10:14 (Reply)

      Hi Zoe,

My advice would be to call a few of the well know cosmetic surgery companies and ask them if they can do this.

You can get it done but you will have scar tissue around it making it difficult to remove.

      Hope this helps!

    hi there,
i am 35 yrs old and since my ealry 20’s i have never felt comfortable about my chin. i have gained and lost wieght over the years and leveled out finally, but my double chin never seems to go away. Is there anything other than operational i could try? its not huge, but it bugs me so much that i cant seem to do anything with it. if operational, roughly what cost and how long would the procedure take?

Thank you in advance for any advice you can give.

      Hi Dermot,
Thanks for your question. If it is excess skin, then the only option is surgery.
If fat, lipoplasty gives really good results.

natalie on 28.08.2007 at 11:19 (Reply)

hi id like to know a bit more about different procedures for acne scarred skin i have contacted skin at m,bro regarding laser and deep peels, which i have found a little expensive are there any cheaper

    1. Sophie on 31.08.2007 at 09:17 (Reply)

      Hi Natalie,
I have asked Anne who heads up non-surgical and this is her response.

Laser skin resurfacing and deep skin peels are expensive and the most invasive of non-surgical treatments, but very effective. If you do not want to spend as much you could try a course of medical mircodermabrasion (a skin exfoliation process), perhaps combined with milder facial peels. The effects will not be as instant so patience is required; however with no recovery time, and less expense these are much more manageable treatments that still achieve great results.
During your free consultation at MYA we will assess your skin using photo skin analysis, we will then recommend the best treatment plan to suit your skin type; and we will try to keep this within your ideal budget.

      Hope this helps!

I have keratosis pilaris and use retin a which works well along with twice a day exfoliation and urea cream (eucerin). I have heard the odd skin peel or dermabrasion session helps too. What would your advice be to me about which would be more appropriate? Will I have to temporarily stop the retin a treatment before and after the procedure and for how long? Also I have heard that galvanic electrolysis might be worth a try too do you do this? thanks

    1. Sophie on 11.09.2007 at 15:11 (Reply)

      Hi Christopher,

We cannot offer that much advice at the moment as it depends on the severity of your skin problem. It may be worth asking your dermatologist for advice. If you can provide some more details we may be able to help but you would need to have a free full consultation. This can be booked on 08000 14 10 14.

  7. QUESTION:
Ivana on 07.10.2007 at 13:02 (Reply)

I have & am unfortunate enough to have rather a blokey build & facial structure, due to a hormone inbalance. Is it possible to get my facial features addressed to appear naturally feminine & if it is, how much would it cost ? If I required several surgeries would I be able to get a reduction in cost if I combined them.
I am 40 in January & my looks have always been an issue for me. If I can get a regular female appearance, I hope that the next 40 will bring me greater happiness.

    Thank you

    1. Sophie on 19.10.2007 at 14:38 (Reply)

      Hi Ivana,
Without seeing you it would be hard to comment. Our best advice is to come in for a free consultation. If you do require several proceedures and they can be done at the same time then you would be able to get a reduced price.

    Hi

i am 18 and have real bad face skin, and spots too. i really think i could benefit from either a facial peel or microdermabrasion. which would you recommend?

    1. Sophie on 22.10.2007 at 11:12 (Reply)

      Hi Jack,
You would really need to come in for a free consultation so a consultant can have a look at your skin. It would be hard for me to say.

  10. QUESTION:
elaina berry on 22.10.2007 at 18:08 (Reply)

I am 38 and have just lost 5 stone in weight, which i know is an achievement in itself however i feel that i have acquired loose skin on my cheek area making the corners of my mouth point down slightly. I have read many articles on the s-lift and how this is good for lifting the lower face. Do you think i sound like a suitable candidate for this proceedure indeed when i pull the skin on my lower cheeks back i do have a more refreshed and younger appearance. Could you tell me how much you charge for this procedure and if i sound a suitable candidate?

    1. Sophie on 07.11.2007 at 17:10 (Reply)

      Hi Elaina,
An S lift only corrects the skin and not the muscle. You get a fair result for 18 months - 3 years but then the rest of the face and the neck will continue to age.
Our advise would be to wait a few more years and have a full jowl and neck lift which corrects the muscles as well as the skin.
Costs are between £6,000 and £7,000.

claire on 24.10.2007 at 00:52 (Reply)

    hello

i have a couple of raised moles on my face, right by my nose that i would love to get removed. they are fairly small and very close to my nose.

would scarring be likely? how is the procedure done? what ballpark figure should i be thinking of saving for? etc etc etc!

    1. Sophie on 07.11.2007 at 17:28 (Reply)

      Hi Claire,
It is possible there would be a fine line if all heals well. The moles are cut out and prices start from £400.
