YOUR QUESTION...
Should I wait until I have had children before a breast reduction?
BACKGROUND...

I'm 24, a size 32 FF and very self-concious about my breasts. I hate the way they look both in and out of clothes. I do alot of sport and find it uncomfortable unless I'm wearing two sports tops over my bra. My sister has had a reduction but she had it done after giving birth. I'm not planning on having children for a few years yet but am unhappy with the way I look now.

OUR EXPERT ANSWER...

Usually with a breast reduction the nipple ducts have to be cut as the nipples are repositioned. This may prevent you from breast feeding so is something to think about before opting for surgery. You breast will naturally change during pregnancy so this needs to be considered as well. This really is a personally choice and something which would be good to discuss with a surgeon. It really depends on how soon you are considering having children. We usually advise you to wait if you are planning children in the next 12 months.
