My BA Story

by MissManace

BA on Aug 4th with Dr Gary Traynor - Manchester Lifestyle My scheduled time was 7:30am. I didn’t arrive until around 8:30am due to traffic and roads works (I was travelling from Nottingham) however they were very understanding. I have to add my whole experience at the hospital was amazing all the staff were lovely :) The receptionist got me to sign some paperwork and then introduced me to the porter who led me to my room. I was given my remote control for the free view TV and told to read through a black manual beside the bed, which explains the hospital procedures. I was also told to order my dinner and breakfast off the menu. The nurse came in pretty much straight away she took down some more details, took my blood pressure, weighed me and shown me all the emergency cords should I need them. On my pillow was my open back gown and fugly paper knickers lol. They are massive!! (I would suggest you take a dressing gown and slippers due to having to walk down to the operating theatre in these) I chilled out in the room watched TV and read my magazines. I was soo giggly (I always go like this when I’m nervous). Around 11:30am I had a visit from my surgeon Dr Traynor who calmed my nerves he’s a brilliant surgeon. He drew on me with a marker pen and told me I’m next up. I was second up that day, my butterflies kicked in again at this point. Once Dr Traynor left the room my anaesthetic nurse came in and explained what he would be doing then my nurse came in within minutes of him leaving the room to ensure I had no metal on etc and then led me to the operating theatre. I was told to lie on the operating bed (I looked up at the clock and it was 12:00pm) and had some massaging cuffs put on the bottom of both my legs also a gel pad on my thigh. Then I was told to flex my hand before my canola was fitted (I was really worried this would hurt but I didn’t feel a thing). I was told I would feel drunk for a moment this was whilst they fed drugs through the canola (it felt soo nice) I was told I would be going to sleep shortly. That’s the last I remember... When I woke up I looked at the clock again it was 13:00pm I asked how long it took and was told it only took 30 minutes so obviously it must of taken me around 30 minutes to wake up. I remember feeling very cold in fact I was shivering which they kindly put an electric blanket over me and I remember saying I wanted to go back to sleep in which they said you’re welcome to go back to sleep and I closed my eyes again before they wheeled me up to my room. I had no pain what so ever the day of the op in fact within an hour I was up using the toilet and having peak at my new boobies! Every half an hour a nurse would visit to take my blood pressure, pulse and she also gave me my first lot of painkillers. Dinner was served around 7pm which was yummy almost like a restaurant meal! Visitors hours were from 8am – 9pm so not long after my friend had to leave but I had a perfect night’s sleep I didn’t wake once thanks to the great painkillers that just knock you out lol.. This morning I managed to shower my bottom half, use baby wipes on my top half. I am amazed at how mobile I actually am to say I only had the op yesterday! I would suggest you girls buy some dry shampoo spray due to not being able to wash your hair right away. I was given all my post op advice booklets, prescription etc. from the nurse. Had my breakfast and then had a visit from Dr Traynor who checked me over. My nurse came in again to take out my canola which again did not hurt and I was free to leave. I’m experiencing more pain today which I was told to expect and the drive home wasn’t very nice but I’m home now and resting. I love my new boobs they look great, there very swollen at the minute but I’m soo eager for that to go down and for them to drop! I’m soo excited to try on new lingerie and clothes :) Overall a great great experience and lovely staff!!
