My Breast Augmentation on 10/11/2009 with Dr Antoniadou.
by Andrea
Hi my name is Andrea I'm 29 and I’m undergoing gender reassignment. I have had my surgery on the 10/11/2009. It all started back in April when I was so upset with the way my body looked. I had a deformity called pectus excavatum which is also known as funnel chest, which was like a big crater in the centre of my body. My lack of breasts size AA made this look even worse and I have felt so bad about this. I was looking at having surgery and had visited many other cosmetic clinics before and been told "there is nothing that can be done" and made me feel even worse about myself. I then seen an advert for MYA while I was looking at clothes on the internet. I called the 08000 number and spoke to a very helpful lady who suggested I pop in to the Manchester Clinic for a free consultation. Two weeks later I attended and had a consultation which consisted of speaking to a personal care co-ordinator called Lizzie who was very understanding about my situation and fully explained what was involved with the breast enlargement and then I went to see a Doctor who was very nice, discussed with me everything that he could do and suggested I see my general practitioner about the funnel chest as it would cause my breasts to be an odd shape when completed. He was really honest and I went away happy. I then spoke to my co-ordinator who asked if I’d like to see someone else for another opinion. About 3 weeks later I went back to see another surgeon who had another look at me and had a chat with me about what I wanted and the way she could help me to make my chest look better, again I came away happy. The week after I went to the hospital who said they could correct the chest with some surgery on my ribs. I then called my co-ordinator Lizzie and explained I was having one of my issues resolved and she kindly made me another appointment with the surgeon who I saw the second time, as I felt happier with the second surgeon. After the funnel chest correction I attended MYA again and the surgeon was completely honest with me and told me that she could now make my breasts look natural and tried implants on to make me have a nice feminine shape without going over the top. I was so happy at this point, my breasts were finally going to look nice. I couldn't wait. I then paid my deposit and booked my operation date. I went back to MYA about a week before my operation for a blood test and a MSRA test and saw their nurse, Amanda who was really nice and asked me a few questions and made me feel at home. I was so excited about what was going to happen to my body. The operation day came I went into the private hospital just before dinner time and I was shown to my room. A lovely gentleman carried my bags up there and made me feel at home. The room was like a hotel bedroom, was so lovely, a nurse came to see me, took my blood pressure, gave me a check over and asked me to slip into a night gown and relax. Later on my surgeon came to see me and drew all over the front of me, it looked like a dot to dot. I then took a photo of it as no one has ever drawn all over me before. A short time after a nurse came to collect me and walked me to the theatre, where there were two lovely people that chatted to me and were very friendly and talked to me and wished me the best of luck before I fell asleep with the injection. I then woke up about two hours later in my bedroom with a nice cup of tea in front of me. It was then I had a look I was all taped up with this sticky white tape, but I could see a lovely cleavage that wasn't there before. I was so happy that I cried. That night I stayed at the hospital. I didn't sleep much because I couldn't stop looking at my breasts. I was so happy. The nurse came to see me a few times just to see if I felt ok. I eventually fell to sleep at about 4 o'clock in the morning. I woke up at about 7 o'clock and had my breakfast. My surgeon then came to see me and explained what she had done and asked the nurse to remove my drains, made sure I was comfortable and then said I could go home and relax. My mother came to collect me and she noticed that i was like a new person and was full of smiles and took me home. I then relaxed, Bliss a couple of weeks off work. I then went back to MYA in Manchester to see my surgeon and the nurse who removed the white stick stuff from me and asked me to look in the mirror. I did this and I couldn't stop looking at myself. My breast were a bit sore and red but were beautiful. I had to force myself away from the mirror and put my sports bra on. I then went home and kept on looking down my top, I couldn't believe that I had bigger breasts and finally a nice figure. I went back a few days later to see the nurse Amanda, who removed my stitches, we both then went to see my surgeon for a quick check and a chat then seen Lizzie my co-ordinator for a friendly chat and went home. A month later I went back to see my surgeon and nurse who was happy with the way I’d healed and said I could stop wearing the sports bra in about 4 weeks. I asked "what size am I?". Without being measured she said "about a D cup". this had made it all worthwhile. I've since gone back to work and I'm now doing most of my normal activities. My confidence has improved a lot. My tops now actually fit me properly. I can't wait until summer when I will be able to wear lovely boob type dresses. I' so happy. I would recommend MYA to anyone. They have been outstanding, friendly and so helpful and honest. They live up to their companies name Make Yourself Amazing as all the staff there are truly amazing. I thank all the staff so much for all their time and hard work. I feel like a new woman and I’m no longer upset about my upper body. I'm very happy and feel like a new woman. Thank you. Lots of love Andrea xx
