My MYA experience – 8 weeks post op.
by Joanne Ingram
Where do I start? Well I have wanted BA since I was about 14 and now at 24 I finally got the guts to go through with it! I had a consultation last year with another cosmetic surgery company and chickened out just before the deposit was due. I didn’t feel that I had all my questions answered and I didn’t feel that I had any support pre op. A year or so on I went to see MYA. I booked an appointment with MYA through the website and went to the Manchester clinic. There I meet my PC Amy and she talked me through everything, I explained the whole situation that I had previously been through and she understood what I was going through. I was told that there was a surgeon in that evening called Mr Mahdi. I decided to go ahead and speak with him. I returned and had my consultation. I was recommended 410 & 380 MHP Allergen implants. I left feeling really happy and thought that all my questions had been answered. It took me a few weeks to decide that this was the right time to go ahead and book my BA! I must have bugged the life out of my PC because I asked nearly every question possible! The day came along very quickly before I knew it I was at the Manchester lifestyle hospital.
I arrived at the hospital at 7.30 am and was shown to my room. There I waited… I had my observations e.g. blood pressure done by the nurse, spoke to the anesthetist and then finally Mr Mahdi. I’d had a really bad cold the week before and was told by the anesthetist that it may increase my chances of getting a chest infection but he was happy to go ahead. The time came for my op 11.50am. I gave my fiancé a kiss and went down to theatre. Then I was put to sleep. I woke up and it felt like I had been to sleep for about 2 minutes! (I returned to my room around 1 hour 30 mins after I went down) I felt a slight pressure on my chest and then realised where I was and what had happened. I went back to my room and relaxed for a while. I was given a cup of tea and my dinner. I was soooo hungry!!!! The food was amazing and topped off the whole experience. I was allowed home at around 7pm. I could feel every bump in the road but wouldn’t say that it hurt, thankfully id taken a pillow to stop the seatbelt rubbing against me. I took one week off work and managed to drive about 8 days post op although 5th gear was quite uncomfortable. I used my v pillow for around 3 weeks - to anyone pre op a v pillow is a must I don’t know how I would have coped without it! I’m now 8 weeks post op and went for my post op assessment with Mr Mahdi last night. Everything is going well and don’t look back for one second!!!! I’d like to say a big thank you to my PC Amy, the nurse Amanda and Mr Mahdi, my MYA journey has been great!!!!!!
