‘Research important’ before opting for overseas surgery

Getting all the facts is very important before deciding to travel to another country for plastic surgery, it has been suggested.

According to American medical tourism company Kari Group, potential patients should make sure they find out all they can about the surgeon who could be doing their work.

President Monika Dunlap said that people who might be going abroad for plastic surgery should find out as much as they can about things like the surgeon’s reputation and their colleagues.

She said: "Medical travel can be a very affordable and satisfying experience if provided by a reputable company and excellent, qualified surgeons."

However, the company president stressed that asking "many questions" is a good step.

"[Patients] should demand seeing surgeons credentials," Ms Dunlap said. "They should do research about the provider they will be choosing, investigate their reputation and the calibre of surgeons who cooperate with them."
