People over 60 are heading to cosmetic surgery clinics in order to regain their lost youth, reports the Liverpool Daily Post.
Eileen Dixon, a 68-year-old former teacher, told the newspaper that having an upper and lower eyelift was the best thing she has ever done.
"I was getting on a bit, but I didn’t feel my age when I looked in the mirror," she explained.
Ms Dixon said the surgery has really boosted her confidence, claiming: "You look in the mirror and it does give you a bit of your youth back."
The publication cites figures from Saga which found that the most popular surgical procedures among the over-50s are eyelifts, facelifts and tummy tucks.
It also found that one-quarter of females in the age group have had or would be willing to have cosmetic surgery.
The figure reduces to ten per cent among the male population, it added.
A Mintel survey recently found that the UK cosmetic surgery industry is now worth more than that of the traditional British cup of tea.
