An industry organisation has been honoured for its part in highlighting irresponsible plastic surgery advertising.
The British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeon’s (Baaps) was given the Association Initiative of the Year accolade at the Aesthetic Medicine Awards.
Consultant plastic surgeon and Baaps president Nigel Mercer expressed his excitement at receiving the award.
Dr Mercer said: "We are delighted to receive this award from Aesthetic Medicine. At the BAAPS we have always worked hard to educate the public on the issues surrounding aesthetic procedures and it was a privilege to receive recognition from our peers."
Eve Oxberry, editor of Aesthetic Medicine magazine, commented that the awards are "totally dedicated to encouraging and celebrating best practice throughout the industry".
Commenting on the importance of clear cosmetic surgery advertising, Douglas McGeorge, Baaps president said last year that the "standard and style" of some advertising was under scrutiny.
