News Image A woman who uncontrollably cried every time she ate food has had her problems solved by Botox.

Patricia Webster, a 58-year-old mother, had been suffering from a condition known as crocodile tears syndrome, which sees nerve fibres under the eye become damaged.

However, after a trip to her hospital, she has now able to wear eye-make up and go out for dinner once more thanks to Botox.

She told KentOnline: "Over the years, the tears and a sobbing movement would just come when I ate. I thought it was just when I ate very hot foods, but it happened with everything."

Injected below the eye, the treatment prevents the nerves from reacting in their usual way to eating, and therefore stops the tears.

"I felt a bit guilty as you keep reading about how expensive it is and felt I didn’t deserve it," she said. "But it works and it means I can wear eye make up and face the world again."
