Breast enlargement experts advise ‘try before you buy’

Women opting for breast augmentation are first advised to seek a realistic idea of what they can expect their breasts to look like after surgery.

Pre-consulting a cosmetic surgeon can offer patients the opportunity to consider and discuss the various options available to them in order to ensure the best possible results.

Experts suggest trying on various styles and shapes of implants to get an accurate representation of how the breasts will appear.

"After trying on the implants and seeing themselves with a totally different look, many women who said they never considered breast augmentation changed their minds," said breast implant expert Dr Elizabeth Kinsley.

With the rapid advancement of implant technology and surgical techniques, breast implants now come in a range of different styles, profiles and fillers.

Statistics for 2008 show that breast augmentation was the most popular procedure for women last year with 8,439 performed in the UK.
