News Image Nearly 90 per cent of survey respondents have stated that they find people who have had cosmetic surgery more attractive than those who have not, it has been revealed.

In a survey by television station FX Channel, 34 per cent of those polled said celebrities who have had cosmetic enhancements, such as Sharon Osborne, are inspirational.

It also revealed that 70 per cent think cosmetic surgery is a good thing, with five per cent having already gone under the knife and 48 per cent planning to do so in the future.

A spokesperson for the television channel said: "We love TV and we love the beautiful people on it.

"This study even suggests a large proportion are prepared to consider going under the knife to look like their idols – and frankly who are we to judge or complain."

The research was conducted as part of promotion for US drama Nip/Tuck and, based on the Dove Campaign for Real Beauty, is being dubbed the Campaign for Unreal Beauty.

A study by Mintel revealed that among those who are considering cosmetic surgery, tummy tucks and liposuction are the most popular procedures.ADNFCR-1234-ID-18516589-ADNFCR
