More people going through a divorce or other life-changing event are turning to cosmetic surgery, a new industry report has revealed.
According to the Lansing State Journal, divorce is becoming an increasingly popular motivation for going under the knife, among both men and women.
Commenting on the trend, Dr Jean Loftus, author of The Smart Woman’s Guide to Plastic Surgery, suggested: "Plastic surgery can improve how a person looks and feels about themselves
"I have seen patients at all times of their lives – not just (after) divorce – who become more confident and feel better.
Studies have shown that many patients who undergo cosmetic enhancements to improve long-term insecurities or unwanted effects of ageing come out the other side with a renewed feeling of self-esteem.
However, experts advise that opting for surgery should be considered alongside the professional advice and guidance of a certified surgeon.
