US film and television actress Elise Neal has claimed that 75 per cent of African American entertainers have had cosmetic surgery.
The Scream 2 star told Livesteez.com that the majority of people in showbiz have had some form of nip or tuck and cannot try to deny it.
She also explained to the website that she had a breast enlargement operation to help her career.
Casting agents typically hire "more voluptuous" girls, the 42-year-old said.
"I was insecure back from when I first started dancing," she explained. "I wanted to be able wear my [dance costumes] without someone telling me to stuff it."
"I’m not ashamed of it," Elise added. "People need to just own up to it."
She also claimed that she believes cosmetic surgery is an individual’s personal choice and that for her; it was not a question of fitting into a mould.
Destiny’s Child singer Kelly Rowland recently said that she too had a breast enlargement operation so that she could wear certain outfits.
