One of the biggest changes in the cosmetic surgery sector over the last few years is the increase of male patients, reports consumer advice firm looking Good BuyAssociation.
Spokesperson for the association Felicity Quigley explained that despite being largely dominated by female patients, the industry is seeing an influx of men seeking treatment.
"You hear about breast reduction for men … That’s certainly something that a lot of blokes go for," she commented. "Again, it’s about feeling more confident about yourself."
Her comments follow a report by the Daily Mail announcing that there has been a rise in men having surgery to correct their "moobs" – man-breasts.
As cosmetic surgery becomes increasingly popular and socially accepted, the trend is likely to continue, added Ms Quigley, concluding that despite this, many men may be unlikely to admit to having surgery.
Reported in the Times, during 2006 there was a record number of male patients seeking breast augmentation – reaching 4,000 operations.
