An increasing number of British women are turning to cosmetic surgery in a bid to get rid of unwanted body fat, referred to as the ‘bridesmaid’s bulge’.
Cosmetic surgeon Dr Paul Cronin said that the latest trend in fat removal procedures is the result of more women tackling the problem of flab folds.
He explained: "Technically, it’s the anterior anxillary fat pad… We have all seen those wedding photos when the older bridesmaids are forced to wear unflattering strapless dresses.
"That’s when you notice these folds of flab sticking out at the sides, below their armpits. These women are generally not overweight."
According to Dr Cronin, stubborn problem areas that don’t respond to diet or exercise – such as ‘bridesmaid’s bulge’ and ‘muffin tops’ – can be helped with a range of non-invasive treatments, including Vaser Liposelection, which breaks down fat and allows it to dissolve in the body.
