News Image A new treatment that promises permanent improvements to lips has won the approval of many plastic surgeons in the US.

The edge-lip implantation procedure uses saline in a similar way to breast implants.

One cosmetic surgeon, Michele Cooper, explained that she had been looking for an alternative to existing collagen or injectable fillers because, while these are effective, they are not permanent.

"I’ve been keeping an eye out for permanent lip augmentation methods," the surgeon added. "This implant is similar to a saline breast implant, though obviously on a much smaller scale."

Dr Cooper said that her patients were happy with the results of the treatment, as it produced "implants [that] feel remarkably natural".

"Though the implant is considered ‘permanent,’ I can always perform a quick procedure to remove the implant if the augmented look is no longer desired," she concluded.

Recently, the Daily Mail suggested that actress Melanie Griffith might have recently opted for plastic surgery.

It said that she had already admitted to using collagen injections in her lips and suggested that she might have also opted for a facelift or Botox.ADNFCR-1234-ID-18696086-ADNFCR
