Smart Lipo is "literally taking the [US] by storm" thanks to the fact that it allows plastic surgeons to undertake liposuction but in a less aggressive way.
That is the opinion of Dr Chris Peers, of Peers Cosmetic Laser Center, who has been quoted along with another US-based palstic surgeon on Fox28.com, discussing the benefits of the surgery.
Dr Ronald Downs of The Centre explained that the treatment can be used to help larger patients "jump start weight loss".
Commenting on the results that Smart Lipo can achieve, Dr Downs said: "If you can take a fair amount of fat away from someone who has just been working their heart out to try to make progress and then she sees
that difference, something changes."
He explained that Smart Lipo allowed surgeons to "get right underside of the skin", which he said was an added benefit of the procedure because it resulted in "great skin contraction".
The American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery recently reported that liposuction is no longer the most popular plastic surgery procedure in the US.
