News Image Healing times after cosmetic facial procedures could be reduced significantly, new research has revealed.

The Candela Vbeam laser, which treats facial bruising after cosmetic procedures, has been tested in a new study published in the Archives of Facial Plastic Surgery journal.

Results showed a 63 per cent average improvement in the ecchymoses (bruising) of patients between 48 and 72 hours after surgery.

Dr Edwin Williams, managing director of the Williams Center for Plastic Surgery, said: "After just one treatment with the Vbeam, our patients experienced dramatic clearance of the injured blood vessels."

Previously the laser has been used for the treatment of rosacea, acne and scars but could now be used to further improve healing after face lifts, nose jobs and other facial cosmetic procedures.

The results were announced by Candela Corporation in an article entitled ‘Pulsed-Dye Laser for Treating ecchymoses after Facial Cosmetic Procedures’.
