A new alternative to Botox is being snapped up by Americans wanting to look young, reports the Daily Mail.

According to the newspaper, the treatment – known as No-tox or GFR, but officially named Glabellar Furrow Relaxation – uses radio waves to kill the nerves which cause frowning and lead to lines on the forehead.

Unlike Botox, No-tox does not render other facial muscles stiff and therefore is a more natural-looking enhancement.

It is claimed to last up to two years, compared to Botox injections which need refreshing every three to six months.

Manhattan cosmetic surgeon Dr Cameron Rokhsar explained that not only does the electronic stimulation create smoother skin, it also raises the eyebrows slightly resulting in a youthful look.

Ingrid Levy, a stylist and chief executive of a fashion consulting agency, told the newspaper: "The fact that it lasts for two years was significant. I am a professional and mother of three small children and GFX seemed like the perfect alternative to Botox – time saving and cost efficient."

Nine in ten cosmetic surgery patients are women, according to the British Association of Plastic Surgeons.ADNFCR-1234-ID-18438889-ADNFCR
