Many older women who are struggling to find work are opting to have cosmetic surgery ahead of a job interview.
According to Julie Shifman of the Examiner, female job candidates believe having a face lift can help to give them a more youthful appearance.
As a result, employers who tend to be wary of recruiting older people may be more inclined to take them on.
"Many women choose a few strategic Botox injections to smooth out the wrinkles," Ms Shifman commented.
She added that people who believe they have "significant" facial issues that age them are opting to have more extensive plastic surgery.
For example, Ms Shifman noted that some women are going under the knife to get rid of features such as a sagging jowl or bags under the eyes.
This comes after cosmetic surgeon Dr Fredric Brandt told the Miami Herald that many middle-aged and older job seekers are turning to cosmetic surgery in order to stay ahead of their younger competitors.
