The number of people having plastic surgery in Los Angeles has increased in the run up to this year’s Oscars.
That is according to LA-based members of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS), who have asserted that demand for their services has stepped up a notch ahead of the film industry’s annual glitzy ceremony.
It appears that it isn’t just celebrities who want to make sure they look good for the bash either, with people who work "behind the scenes" said to be getting in on the act as well.
Santa Monica-based plastic surgeon Michael McGuire, ASPS president-elect, said that Oscar fever has helped boost his business by 20 per cent.
He explained: "The numbers may be down slightly from previous years and some non-A-listers may be cutting corners as it relates to beauty, but this is still Hollywood, where beauty reigns supreme."
This year’s Oscars are due to take place on Sunday (February 22nd) at the Kodak Theatre in Hollywood.
