News Image A Wegener’s disorder sufferer has praised her ‘spectacular’ Rhinoplasty surgery after an operation to save her nose.

Speaking to Elevate magazine, 34-year-old Nicole Magson revealed that she was given new hope by surgeon Dr Andres Gantous after her nose collapsed, leaving her with a disfigured face.

The Canadian high school teacher told the magazine about life prior to the operation, and how her damaged nose affected her self esteem. "I hated having my picture taken, I didn’t date," she commented.

However, after the successful procedure, which was completed in two-and-a-half hours, Ms Magson was able to get on with her life.

Speaking to Elevate magazine, she said: "I can understand why people have cosmetic surgery – the bruising was gone in about two weeks. Taking the cast off my nose was particularly painful, but then the result – to see my profile – was spectacular."

Dr Gantous, the operating plastic surgeon, noted in the magazine: "She’s been through a lot, but what the operation did was restore a more normal function to her nose, and that restored a lot of her confidence."
