News Image Interest in cosmetic procedures has not waned in the recession, according to new figures.

In a poll by commissioned by Oxygen media, 63 per cent of 18 to 34 year-olds thought positively about procedures that were designed to mask their age, as reported by Reuters.

The figure rose to 73 per cent for the 35 to 49 year-old age bracket.

The data also revealed that 22 per cent of women would rather have breast augmentation surgery than receive a diamond bracelet.

Dr Gilbert Lee, a US-based plastic surgeon, told Reuters: "Interest in plastic surgery remains very strong, despite the economy."

Further more, almost a quarter of women would prefer to be given $10,000 worth of cosmetic procedures than have the money to invest.

Data released by the British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons revealed that women in the UK underwent 31,183 procedures during a 2008, an increase of five per cent year-on-year.
