Heidi Montag is not the only American who has undergone a nose job of late, in fact, the procedure rose in popularity by 74 per cent during 2009, new figures from the American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery (AACS) reveal.
Over 17 million people in the US chose to undergo various forms of cosmetic surgery throughout 2009, with nose jobs being one of the most popular procedures.
Tummy tucks and eyelid lifts were also popular choices with those across the pond, while the number of facelifts performed throughout the year also rose by 44 per cent.
However, Mark Berman, AACS president, believes that even more people could be set to go under the knife in the coming year: "I don’t think we’ve come close to hitting the ceiling yet. That 17 million is only going to expand."
According to the British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons, breast augmentation was the most popular form of cosmetic surgery in 2009, with 8,439 of the 34,187 procedures that were carried out accounting for this type of surgery.
