News Image A 54-year-old woman has been given "a new lease of life" and now gets mistaken for someone in her forties.

Ann Ford was quoted in the Daily Mail talking about her facelift and how it has changed her life for the better.

She said that made the decision to undergo surgery after putting on make-up in preparation for a wedding and realising that she "still looked dreadful".

Describing the moment she made the decision to go ahead with her facelift, Mrs Ford said: "The eye shadow just made my eyes look even more tired, and I couldn’t cover up the wrinkles.

"So I decided then that it was time to do something about what I looked like. I was fed up with looking older than I actually was."

Ms Ford said that her husband was pleased with the results of her surgery as for him it was "like getting a younger wife".

She said that she never gets "mistaken for being older than [she] is" and is clearly happy with her appearance.

Face and neck lifts were the third most popular cosmetic surgery procedure in 2008 after eyelid surgery and breast augmentation, which came in at number one, according to statistics released by the British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons.ADNFCR-1234-ID-19092821-ADNFCR
