News Image Despite ongoing financial restraints curbing non-essential spending, women continue to invest in anti-ageing skin treatments, new research indicates.

According to a recent US report, 98 per cent of women aged between 25 and 54 claim they currently spend hundreds of pounds a year on cosmetic facial procedures.

The survey found that more than a quarter of women aged 25 to 34 consult a plastic surgeon on a regular basis.

Dermatologist Dr Mitchel Goldman said: "The results of this survey clearly demonstrate that women are still spending the money that it takes to maintain their appearance in this uncertain economy."

Laser treatments, chemical peels and Botox injections are all popular non-surgical procedures in high-demand among women in the UK.

The increasing number of extreme makeover shows broadcast on British and American television has been credited for the growth in cosmetic surgery, securing its place in the wider skincare and beauty market, experts say.ADNFCR-1234-ID-19136765-ADNFCR
