The Procedure
Liposuction is performed under local or general anesthetic. The most popular areas are the abdomen, thighs, hips, buttocks and knees. Through tiny incisions in the skin a hollow metal tube, or cannula, breaks up the fat beneath the skin. It’s then removed by a syringe or vacuum pump. Ultrasound waves or an injection of fluid can also break up the fat.
How long does it take?
Liposuction takes from 30 minutes to 2 hours depending on the technique and the extent of the surgery.
Is it right for me?
Any surgery is a big decision and we’ll provide all the details you need to make an informed choice. However, liposuction gives fantastic results. Your body can have a wonderful new shape, but it shouldn’t be considered as an alternative to diet and exercise.
What happens after surgery?
You’ll probably need a few days off work to recover and no exercise for a couple of weeks.
