VAGINAL TIGHTENING SURGERY
After childbirth the vaginal cavity becomes larger and more
slack and unfortunately, even after exercise, does not usually
return to its pre pregnancy state. It therefore is no longer
at its best possible sexual functioning state and women can lose
sensation during intercourse. This can lead to sexual
dissatisfaction as well as a loss of self esteem and
confidence when in a relationship. Vaginoplasty surgery aims
to improve the tone of the vagina by tightening and
restoring the vaginal muscles and the supporting tissue to
their pre pregnancy state.
A SIMPLE & SAFE PROCEDURE
Vaginal tightening can be performed under local or general
anaesthetic and usually takes less than an hour to perform. During
surgery the stretched and excess vaginal skin is removed resulting
in an immediate reduction in vaginal size and return of sensation
during intercourse. Any wounds are sealed using
dissolvable stitches that do not generally need to be removed
afterwards.
QUICK RECOVERY
With these procedures the scars are small and the wounds will
heal relatively quickly. However the site of surgery will initially
be tender or very sensitive and swollen, and patients may
experience some mild discomfort. This will settle down after a week
or two. Personal hygiene is extremely important for this
procedure and extra care of the wound should be taken during the
first few days. You should shower once or twice a day and rinse the
vagina every time you use the toilet. It is advised to avoid sexual
intercourse during the first six weeks after cosmetic vaginal
surgery.
