Anti biotics post surgery

Hey everyone,
I’m now 6 DPO and I am really struggling on my anti biotics which I was given post surgery (co amoxiclav). Since taking them I have felt nauseous but every couple of days they have made me feel so rough and nauseous that I can’t get out of bed. I felt nauseous this morning but then took them with half a piece of toast and then vomitted, I haven’t been able to eat anything since and the thought and smell of food makes me heave. Did anybody else experience this and also did anybody not finish the course of anti biotics? I have 2 days left on them

I was given coamoxiclav to take 3 times a day for 5 days so I’m sure if you only have 2 days left then it won’t matter too much. Have you called the nurse? Have you tried having them with a bit more food? Antibiotics are definitely known to cause stomach upset. I suffer with bad IBS and my stomach has been dodgy since taking them – not what you need when you’re in enough pain! Hope you feel better soon! xx

I had IBS as a child so maybe that hasn’t helped either! I rang the emergency line and she advised to stop taking them. I’ve been fine today after not taking them so hopefully I will be alright from now on as I haven’t been in pain at all! xx

I’m a nurse and I know your always meant to finish your course of antibiotics for it to be effective but then again if its making you be physically sick, your not going to absorb them anyways. Can they not swap you to another type that you can tolerate so your going to have anti biotic cover? Anti-biotics are known to sometimes cause people to feel nauseous but there will be ones that will agree with you more xx
