Antibiotics-Did anyone stop taking them due to diarrhoea? ? Help !

Hi ladies. Had diarrhoea second day running now in morning only. I’m sure it’s these antibiotics Distaclor. Anyone else had the same reaction? Did anyone stop taking the antibiotics? ? I feel washed out as it is without every morning been drained of any life I have left in me !? Thanks ladies. Help appreciated. I know we’re given them to prevent infection but are they essential ? Xx

Hi antibiotics kill both good and bad bacteria so they often upset your stomach (and this is why you sometimes get thrush too). I guess it depends how bad you are? I’d try to finish the course unless your really struggling? Or take some Imodium? I’m not sure if that would work? Xx

I would call the medical line Hun, how many days are you into the course?

If you’re on day 5 I’d say stopping would be ok, if it’s less, they may want to change to another broad spectrum antibiotic that’s less harsh on your stomach.

@Laura I didn’t really want to add another drug to my system in immodium but might try that. I’m tempted to stop taking them. X

I wouldn’t stop taking antibiotics … try to take all 7 days . You should eat natural yoghurt but not the 0% , full fat one . It will help your stomach xx

Ring the nurse before stopping taking anything… they maybe able to change your tablets xxx

Don’t stop taking antibiotics mid course without medical advice, I Remember when I was studying it can make bacteria more likely to come back stronger depending on what day of the course it is, they may be able to change your antibiotic or something but your given them for a reason xx

It’s happening to me. This is the first morning taking them and can’t stop going to the toilet! xx

@Emily @Chloe thanks I’ve took this mornings and clinic has called me back awaiting surgeon advice at mo so will update later. Its sounding like I’m gonna have to stick it out another 8 tabs to take so 4 days left . Feel so drained. Just sat on bed miserable. I’m loosing weight fast. My boobs are gonna look enormous at this rate. Lol. Chloe – I’ve took 30ML of pepto bismal and it’s stopped it …until tomorrow morning no doubt. Xx

Perhaps they couldnswap the type of anti biotic im on a different type to the one u said x also no harm in trying a stomach settler too x

Update on original post. My surgeon has told me to cease taking them????

If theyre making u ill take his advice at least u asked eh x
