ok George’s tips of the day:

    Pre op.

    1. take a tight sports bra to your consultation with the surgeon so you can try on the silicone implants for a good guage of size.

    ASK about types:

    CUI [standard]

Soft touch [actually firmer like gel so don’t leak]

responsives [squidgier so more ‘ natural’]

    Round [standard rounds]

Anatomical [tear drop shaped good for super slim nd non existent]

Unders -under the muscle – sub fascia

    Overs – over the muscle

    Payments:

get a friend refferal from someone off mya thats helped you- will get you **** 150 pounds off!!***** and the friend receives 100 3weeks after your op

-mention up until you pay the full amount

    George’s hospital tips:

1.take a laptop! to watch funny tv catchup

2.drink lots of liquids after as will make you feel much better as you will be dehydrated- tea juice and water.

    3. Be careful not to lift anything to keep your scars tight

4.before getting in a car or cab tell them to go easy on the corners!!

    Menu
    +2

Take food with you to the hospital in case they forget to feed you *cross*

Get any pre-existing conditions sorted before you have your op. Battling with a tooth abscess through my BA recovery has NOT been fun. It’s one less thing you need.

Take at least a week off work, 2 if you can manage. You might feel like you can start everything right after your op, but your body will thank you for the break x

    George’s post op tips:

    1. V pillow from argos a must – put 2-3 pillows underneath to give you the ‘seated’ position required. Also put one under your bum otherwise that will feel sore!

    2. keep your arms by your sides for as long as possible not to lift them – like that deodorant ad. :)

    3. after dressings removed and to take off the pen marks use aqueous cream from boots with water – its a non irritant cleanser and can be used on your scars when closed.

4.for 6 weeks post use dermatix scar strips to reduce redness etc

    5. moisturise with body butter anti stretch mark and bio oil [not on scars for 6 weeks] over rest of breast to combat stretch marks

    Menu
    +4

Pure natural shea butter is brilliant for scars and stretch marks :D

    PAIN:

    1. post op you’ll be drugged up to your eyes – so not much pain just a bit stiff

    2. 1 week post will be horrible- can’t sleep can’t lift anything can barely get dressed but take the full amount of meds if you need to- rest and drink lots of liquid.

nipples will be permanently erect and sore – and can feel heaviness on chest

    3. week 2 nipples still erect! and a feeling of sunburn or prickly heat will occur this lasts approx a week and clothes will irritate you! so if you can walk around topless, do so.

    4. week 3 you can lift your arms higher and finally shave/epilate your pits!

wear normal tops etc- but can’t put them straight up yet

I did not need to wear a bra at all for first 2 weeks – but wore a soft CK bra about 2.5 weeks post.

Tips I think would have helped me:

    – try not to compare yourself to post op girls on this forum. Even if you have the same stats on paper as someone, having the same size implant will not necessarily give you the same results. Discuss with your surgeon exactly what you want and they will know what you need.

    – if you’ll be wearing a sports bra straight after your op, go for a bigger size than you’re expecting, even a bigger back size, to accommodate swelling

    – get a v pillow. I didn’t bother and I can’t believe how difficult and uncomfortable it is to sleep sitting up! I thought it’d be fine, but no.

    – take plenty to keep you occupied at the hospital. The last thing you want is a delay and you’re left alone with just your thoughts and worries!

    – take snacks and drinks to the hospital for after the op

    – take the painkillers from the start. Don’t wait until the pain hits you like I did

    – get wipes and dry shampoo. I finally had a bath today on day 5, but it was still fairly difficult and if I didn’t have strapping on my plasters would have got wet no matter how much I tried to keep them dry

    – make sure you have someone to help you post op for the first week at least, the easiest tasks become quite difficult – things you wouldn’t have even thought of like reaching and pulling to shut a window

    – get things in for your week off to keep you occupied – film, boxsets, magazines, books. It’s really boring!

    george85 11

No extra hospital costs- posted in earlier threads:

You pay for 2 meals for a DAY CASE in your final amount – not extra.

Highate do 2x 3 course meals if your in long enough so make sure you eat them :)

-green and blacks ice cream usually on the menu :)

Parents & partners can also get hot food for a small fee [usually around a fiver]

They get free drinks etc .

Also medication from the hospital is also covered in the costs you pay at the clinic.

    great idea this george! :)

Firstly, do your research! research your surgeon, the implants and go well prepared to your consultation with plenty of questions, because u always walk away wishing u had asked more.

Id say the main thing is prepare yourself for an emotional journey.. try not to get to nervous or worry about things pre-op, i got myself that worked up over thinking things i nearly talked myself out of having my BA. take some calms, they help, or batch flower remedies. it is a natural thing to worry but it can drive u insane. for the last week my mum put me on batch flower remedies and it helped so much.

be prepared that friends or family may not be as supportive as u want them to be, but just remember u are doing this for yourself, no body else, and dont let any body put u down, coz believe me..some people will try. just remember u will ALWAYS have your boob buddies on this forum who know EXACTLY what u are going through.

Like the other girls have already said, just prepare, take as much time off work as u can get so u can rest and heal properly, i would say ideally 2wks. v-pillow, arnica cream and tablets and charchol tablets are a must!! arnica to help with swelling and charchol for bloatedness. plenty of front fastening pjs and tops for the first week.

U neeeeed to have someone to help u as much as poss for the first week! i didnt have a great recovery and just lifting a glass to drink was agony for me. u need complete rest for the inside bruising and your incisions to heal completely. my mum literally did everything, i stayed on the sofa with a stack of dvds, magazines, water and tablets and she looking after me amazingly! when i went for my weeks check up to my nurse, she said i can tell u have been well looked after because of how your incisions look, some peoples look pluckered if they have done too much. so it is well worth being a lazy bitch and getting pampered for the week :)

It is normal to question what u have done after, to have a good cry, to worry that u dont like them. all this is normal. u become one hell of an emotional wreck, your body has just been through a lot. believe me.. after the first 2-3wks, u will start to LOVE your new assests! when u get to 6wks post op u will think your surgeon is a GOD! and as the months progress u will get the dreaded boob greed! :( u just have to always keep the pic of you pre op, and remember what u have now is a million times better than what u had before, and it was money well spent!

Dont get measured to early, even tho its way to exiting and the main thing u want to do. try wait until 6 wks! take all your surgeons advice and if he says dont wear wired bras for 6wks, then DONT! they can only do damage to your healing process.

Dont be too shocked my what u do get measured at, remember implants do measure bigger than what they look, because of the projection. also every place u can measure different, so shop around. Dont be to disheartened if u cant get a cleavage of your boobs arent soft enough, dont compare your healing process to others, everyones different, and your boobs will change daily, just be patient and shop around for bras that suit u, its not necessarily worth paying more money, i have some great ones from primark and asda!

My final thing would be Dermatix Scar Sheets! the have already been mentioned above, u can get them cheap off ebay, cut the sheet to size for your incisions, and from 6wks use for at least 12-24hours a day and rinse thoroughly and leave to air dry. they are known for reducing redness and raised scars. they are totally worth the money, im 6 months post op and have used them constantly, my scars are now amazing.

Last but not least..GOOD LUCK girls! think positive, dont question what u are doing too much, if this is something u have always wanted and dreamed of, of having the boobs to suit your figure/frame. then go for it, dont let anybody stop u or tell u any different. it will change your life, its the best thing ive ever done, and completely worth it. but i wouldnt have got through it all without my boob buddies! ;) xxx

Use bio’Oil Before ur op! and more so after x

    Menu

MY SURgeon swears by bio oil, she said use it religiously.

take something to read as you are likely to be waiting a long time, i down loaded comedies onto itv player and took my laptop as there wasn’t much on tv.

make sure you have really comfy clothes for the way home that you can put on easily

start taking laxatives as soon as your discharged from hospital, believe me you’ll need them.. my pharmacist gave me Movicol which is more effective than senokot or standard laxatives, Its £10 for 30 sachets.

Arnica is natural and can help reduce the bruising, check with your nurse but it doesn’t thin the blood so you should be ok

Eat plenty of fruit and veg and drink plenty of water to help you heal afterwards

Take the pain relief so that you can get on with your day, if you let it get on top of you, it’s hard to boost yourself and feel positive again.

Make sure any wipes you buy are antiseptic to ensure that you are as clean as you can be to prevent infection, tesco do good ones for £1.99

Charles Wothington do a good dry shampoo spray in tesco for £1.99, takes away the dirty hair look, gives it volume so you can tie it up for a few more days whilst you can’t shower. Not ideal but better than getting your strapping wet. xx

Take eg. some belvita biscuits or cereal bars to the hospital as they did forget to feed me in the morning, and I was awake from 2am til 9.30am waiting for them to give me some food so that i could take some meds which couldn’t be taken on an empty stomach, despite me asking 4 times!, just saves you feeling rubbish if they are really busy.

So some of it post op, but good to be prepared x

I also use baby wipes a lot on my boobies. As Im moisturising and oiling so often ill give them and the scars a wipe with baby wipes. They are really gentle so dont irritate the scars.

Take a bottle of squash to the hospital. After all that fasting you’ll be bursting to have some flavours!

Push your bed up against a wall so you can lean up against the million pillows you will be surrounded with without feeling like you are going to fall off the bed!

Move cups, plates, tea bags out off cupboards before op so you don’t have to reach up for them afterwards.

Wear cotton knickers if you don’t want to wear the sexy paper ones to theatre.

Throat/boiled sweets are good for after theatre as the ga can leave your mouth feeling dry and throat sore.

    Menu

Take Vitamin C, E and Zinc supliments before and after op, these help with immune system to help prevent colds etc

Get some hibiscrub body wash and use this the night before and the morning of the op it is one of the only antibactirial body washes available and ensure to shave lol xx

    Post Op:

Don’t over fill kettles, saucepans or anything like that in the kitchen, you’ll feel it pull on the stitches if you lift too much..eg. lifting up full binbags, pushing chairs under tables etc.

Learn to bottom shuffle to move up your bed, or adjust yourself against pillows – its easy to pull yourself if you use your arms.

Avoid walking a dog that pulls – ouch!

Rest a lot and listen to your body.

    Menu

    PRE OP

*Get a full leg, underarm and bikini wax so you dont have to worry about shaving post op!

*Book yourself in to a cheap hairdressers maybe 5 days post op to get a wash n blow dry – will make you feel nice and refreshed.

    POST OP

*Set your phone alarm for every 4 hours to remind you to take painkillers – especially through the night…its better your phone wakes you before the pain kicks in than the pain itself waking you up!

knowing i wouldnt have anyone at home to help me after my op i left towels, underwear pj’s and clothes out on a unit.

cups and plates on the drainer, saucepans on the cooker and tea coffee next to the kettle and all my toiletries on the shelf in the bathroom.

this has saved me having to bend or reach for anything, i defo wish id invested in a v pillow tho ive got 8 pillows on my bed and am still uncomftable and im sure im gonna end up with a pressure sore on my bum from sitting sleeping up so a pillow under your bottom works a treat.

    FIRST CONSULT WHAT TO EXPECT:

your first consult will not be with a surgeon but your allocated personal coordinator or PC as we refer to them on here.

This person [usually a woman!] will book your dates answer any questions and give you a briefing of what to expect and show you some before and after’s.

Tell them at the first consultation what look you are after and they can advise you on a surgeon who meets your needs as every surgeon specialises in different fields so they match you up to your perfect doctor!

Also get a friend referral -can be someone off mya [you can say you know them however you want to i.e family friend] this will get you 150 off your op.

You can also discuss finance and time scales etc so go in with lots of questions.

Your PC will then book you into see a surgeon or two depending on how many consults you would like.

    SECOND CONSULTATION:

This will be with the surgeon and you can ask about sizes [they do not deal with the finance side or booking so ask your pc for that]

You will be measured and depending on what ‘look’ you want [take pictures to illustrate if possible] your surgeon will recommend a size.

They will tell you it’s not cup size but proportions so if you go in saying I want a D then it’s not as helpful as pictures as D’s come in sizes from 28 -36 etc so look different on everybody.

They will give you some implants to feel [responsive cui and soft touch / round / anatomical]- if not ASK to see them and have a good feel.

Then you can try them on in your bra – the best way to guage a proper size [as they’ll be under your skin] is to take a tight sports bra with you and put them in there- if you put them in a bra they either won’t fit or stick out more because of the padding.

    hope that helps x

UNDERS *** AND THE MYTH OF FLUFFING***

Girls who are 2/3/4 wks po hangin there with ur tight little unders!

I was devistated with mine for the first few mo bgt hs! Im now 13wks po and loving them!!

Week 1: tight awful square/pointed looking, also fluffy nipples. The implant is being pushed down hard by the rightness of ur muscle, swollen middle.of boobs and feel like u cant breath! Kills u to sneeze laugh or cough!

Week 2: muscle begins to relax and middle of ur boobs is srill raised and swollen. Skin should begin to feel less tight by end of week 2.

Week 3/4/5: really shouldnt be as tight, however muscle is still clinging on for its life! Pushing down on the implant. Middle bit should be less swollen by week 5. Nipples become mega sensitive around week 3 and feeling may become more apparent.( i was measured at wk 5 as a 32DD)

Week 6: check up time… All pain and.tighness should be fone, however dont expect ur little unders to be the finished product just cos uve seen ur nurse/surgeon! ur muscle is still tight… By week six i was still gutted re size… HOWEVER……

By week 9 i was bursting out my 32DD bra and bought an E which fit good :)

Week 11 i felt my bras hurting me so got measured again 32F/FF depending on bra style!!

What im trying to say is unders change constantly, mr.t told me at 6wks they werent the finished product as my muscle still needed to relax… Mr t also said it can take upto 1yr to soften fully and let the muscle relax… Over time ur muscle becomes thinner as it can no longer be worked. U have 3 layers of muscle and the implant is under the 1st which does not.affect stength of anything…

If u aint happy with ur unders have a look at my pics and u will see the changes, sorry they aint dated but my pics have a date on, if u can work them out. I had my op,on 23/3/11 …

    Chin up lovelies xxx

    RICE BOOBS

ok I saw a post asking about this so thought i’d add it and feel free to add too.

IF your confused about sizes and want to try them on at home with clothes etc the rice/cous cous test can give you an approximate gauge.

I personally used cous cous as more malleable in tights.

    1. take an old pair of tights/stockings fill with either grams i.e 340cc= 340grams

    2. pour into foot part and tie a knot with a little room for movement.

3.wear with a tight sports bra and this will give you an indication of sizing.

I tried this and it wasn’t far off what I got but remember its approx not accurate :) x

About the rice boobs, I found it better to measure in mls, not grams. Measuring in mls makes them slightly smaller and a little closer to the implant size.

Also, push them flat when they’re in your bra to try and make them more like the actual projection measurements.x

For your initial consultation with your surgeon, be prepared to get your boobs out!! out as silly as it sounds i was so not prepared for that. and where clothes that make it easy for you to do this. i wore a dress and showed a bit more then what was needed! try wear a top and bottoms so you can retain some modesty. Also make sure you come prepared with lots of questions, its so annoying walking away with questions unanswered. x
