I had my breast reduction yesterday and can’t believe how quick and easy it all was!

Upon admission I was shown to my room and changed into my robe. The nurses made me feel comfortable and my friend sat with me the whole time prior to the op to put me at ease.

Mr Marcellino came in to draw on me and also had a visit from the anaesthetist who was lovely.

Even laying on the bed 5 minutes before being anaesthetised I felt so comfortable and not at all nervous, despite never having had general anaesthetic before.

The next thing I knew it was all over and I woke with very little pain. I was taken back to my room and after 10 minutes was able to text family and friends to reassure the op went well, only feeling a little tired.

The nurses brought me some toast, I had a little nap and woke to some dinner, and watched a bit of TV.

I woke a few times through the night but not due to any pain or discomfort, just the storm outside!

In the morning I was visited by the nurse again and had my drainage pipes removed, slightly sore for a minute or two but soon wore off. I was then able to sit myself up, make a trip to the bathroom alone and get dressed all ready for discharge.

I’m still wrapped up in bandages and taping but from what I can see they’ve done a fab job and I’m super happy! Can’t wait until my post op check up next week to see them for real without all the dressings!

I honestly can’t believe how easy the whole experience was, I think it’s now a case of stopping myself from over exerting myself.

Everyone was lovely and I will definitely recommend MYA to anyone.

Feel free to contact me with any questions 🙂

    Thanks MYA!

Silly question, but is your room private and can you have visitors after surgery?

That’s amazing Jessica, congratulations. I’m having an uplift and reduction and i’m super nervous about the scarring. Glad it all went for you though. Hope recovery is ok for you x

@Louise, yes you can have visitors. Most of the time you’re in your own room but some rooms are doubles.

We can’t really talk prices on here, Chloe but if you speak to a patient co-ordinator, they can give you a quote. Those appointments are free.

Hi Jessica, that is really reassuring to hear. I have a breast reduction/up lift on 6th June which I am so excited about! From your story it sounds like it was really straight forward which I hope mine is going to be (fingers crossed!). It is good to hear you are allowed visitors up until just before your Op which is good. Do they dismiss you at any particular time the following day or does it depend on how you feel? How are things now since your op? X

    @Sophie
I had someone stay with me until I went down for my op and they were in my room when I came back! I had a two night stay. So they came back to see me the next day and stayed all day, then came back to pick me up on the day I could go home 🙂
On the day you’d go home, they’d let you go in the morning, fairly early because of the next intake of patients.
