    Hi lovely ladies,

I realise this is a personal thing but I’m looking for advice and info!

I am on anti depressants/anxiety meds and have been for 6 months. I am stable and my GP would back this. When I had my initial consultation in Jan my pc told me if you have history of mental health or are on medication for it, you need to have been taking the medication or off of the medication for at least 6 months. So I booked my surgery for 13th June which is now 38 days away and have my pre op on Saturday.
I have been reading that girls ops have been cancelled a day or 2 before their ops as they have mental health issues or have taken medication for it in the last 6 months.

Has anyone recently had an op and has also had mental health /medication in the last 6 months???

I have waited so long and will be gutted if they make me wait another 6 months. 🙁

    Thanks girls xx

Saw Mr Mounir again Wednesday . Going to Preston . I’ve had both letters back from doctor and psychologist which state im stable . Mr Mounir said he has no issues with medical history . I wouldn’t worry unless you’ve hidden anything. I just made sure I had my letters sent to mya 3 weeks before op xx

I had been taking my antidepressants for close to 2 years and only just came off them in Feb. I told Mya from the very start so they were aware and got me booked in last minute for like 2 weeks from my consultation. 1 week before I started freaking out because they told me about the 6 month thing so I thought it was going to be cancelled. I just had to go to my doctors and get them to write a note stating I’m okay and it went ahead! I am now 10 days post op and I couldn’t be happier!! Xxx

My advice would be to get your own letter sorted from your GP. I trusted MYA and then they cancelled my Op a week before! I have fought to get my op which has now been reinstated by getting a letter from my GP and Psychiatrist. Don’t wait for MYA to contact your GP. They only wrote to mine 3 weeks before my op and it takes time for communication to be done. I would get on it now just in case. It’s so stressful when they cancel on you. I literally could not stop crying I was that devesated. Hope all goes well for you hun xx

Hi girls. I’ve had my letter written today by my GP and I’m collecting it Monday after it’s been typed up properly. My Doctor has addressed it to the Surgeon as that’s what he wanted to do. I’ve got their fax number and will email over a copy to my pc. I really will be unhappy if they don’t accept it as it is not fair that they would for one person then not for another! Xx

Hi girls just a quick update to say that I’ve GOT THE GO-AHEAD!!! I’m so excited!! So im having my op… Next week ? Time to get prepared! I literally feel I owe it all to my hugely supportive and organised patient co-ordinator Hannah, at Fitzroy. She’s been there right from the beginning of my journey working around my difficult schedule/childcare and travelling times. She’s never ‘forgotten to call me back’ or anything of the sort and has always answered my messages and kept me updated on progress when things felt like they where not going anywhere. She’s been real and I’ve been able to relate to her as wanting my procedure after breast feeding. My only niggle is that I don’t get to see her again at the end of my journey, to show off what she’s worked so hard for me to get! I hope I feel as much in safe hands as I have done, for the rest of my journey! Good luck for anybody going through the same as me xx
