I have just recived a letter from my doctors aboy MYA requisting my medical history (which i knew they were going to do) but my doctors are asking me for £25 to give them my info. I know its not a lot of money but considering what im paying MYA i would have thought they would payfor this??

You shouldn’t have to pay! My doctors have written 2 letters for me and released my medical records and didn’t ask for any money x

I had to pay £35 for mine, it’s more down to the doctors I think x

apparently its normal to have to pay yourself for the doctors to release your medical record since ive asked around, not sure how you doctor done it for free @laurenweigh but good on them!
@shonnyw maybe they only ask for medical history if you ticked yes to any of the medical questions when you go for the initial consultation?

I’m currently going through the same process! My doctor has quoted £60 as they are going to have to go through all my previous Surgery doctors notes which she said could take up two hours of her time which is time she should be treating nhs patients!! X

@jessy6067 they must only need full medical records if you have a medical problem, ive been under investigation for heart problems in the past so MYA needed to know everything and make sure i could go under GA.

😮 £60 seems a bit too much, i read my notes before i paid all they seem to have done is printed my notes off which were already on the system which is wrote up at the time of previous surgeries etc so really it shouldn’t take too long. they wrote a quick concluding paragraph saying i could have the procedure x

I didn’t have to pay either, as far as I know if a company requests your medical file directly from your doctor it’s free of charge, however if u request it from them privately u will be liable to pay a charge. x
