Drains!!??

girls im just wondering does everyone have drains or just some? Also what are they for and when will you know if youl be having them or not? Thanks xx

You can ask at your pre op as your nurse will know if your surgeon uses them… I was never actually told I would have them but did expect them so wasn’t surprised when I woke up with them in. I think they just drain excess fluid from the area, it looked like blood in mine, I’ll try to attach a photo.. I really wouldn’t let the idea of drains put you off the procedure, it’s just a few moments of discomfort when they pull them out and if you ask for painkillers beforehand you’ll be fine x

I had Mr Marcellino on the 16th March who used drains, please don’t be scared or anxious about them, you’ll probably still be out of it from the anesthetic to even realise. Having them out is a weird sensation it tingles a little after but it goes away after like 5 mins x

I had them I had marcellino. Pre op I was petrified at the thought of having them! But honestly they didn’t bother me one bit when I woke up with then in and when having them out I just took deep breath and relaxed like when you have an injection I didn’t even feel it! X

I had my op on monday(16th) and had marcellino. He used them on me.

When I asked at my pre-op appointment they said that he never used them so when I found out on the morning that I was having drains I was sooo nervous! I had read on the forum that they were horrible etc and was really scared.

But… It actually wasn’t that bad at all! I actually said to the nurse it was quite nice – as nice as it could be. Haha It was a weird sensation, it didn’t hurt you could just feel it moving inside you as they pull them out.

The nurse did say that people react differently but honestly don’t stress about it they are literally out within 10 seconds! Xx
