Hi ladies. I had my op on Thursday and would like to share my experience.

My admission time was 11am and the hospital was about 45 mins away. I was at Preston with Mr Traynor.

I got a call when I was on my way to ask where I was as I should have been there at 8am…my email definitely said 11am so I panicked but the lady on the phone was so nice and said no to worry.

I got there at about 10.45 and was showed straight to my room and told to put a gown on. The room was lovely with an ensuite bathroom.

Nurses and anaesthetist came and went and were all lovely. Then Mr Traynor himself came in and drew on me. He noticed the radiator in my room wasn’t working and tried to fix it. I said I didn’t mind and he said he did and within 5 mins there was a maintenance guy in the room fixing it!

Next thing I knew a lady came in to take me to theatre. This was about 1pm so not long at all.

I had the cannula put in which I didn’t feel at all…and I’m a wimp!! I remember a feeling of pressure in my arm and a funny taste in my mouth and next think I knew I was waking up! I was wheeled to my room and was shivering so was brought a duvet. I’d been gone for about 2 hours.

I was brought tea and toast which was fabulous! The nurse came in later on and helped me put my bra on.

My traynor came in and had a quick look and went off on his way.

I was an overnight case due to an uplift in one and spent the evening drifting off to sleep.

At 10pm I woke up and the night nurses came in who were the nicest ladies yoy could meet. They offered me something for supper and I chose a ham sandwich and some crisps which they make themselves. They brought it to me and chatted to me then gave me some sleeping pills and covered me up.

I slept really well and woke ttell next morning ready for home. Breakfast was brought to me and my husband came to collect me.

To be honest I feel like my recovery has almost been too good with not much pain more tenderness and tightness. I have read about the dreaded 3rd day post op so I am dreading tomorrow but so far so good!

Any ladies wondering whether to do it…go for it!!!
