Do you have any history of medical illness, depression or anxiety? Usually that;s the reason.
They asked for my NHS number at pre-op to contact my GP themselves, but that was all. x

If you have had any form of depression, anxiety or any format of eating disorder no matter how small get on the case now. I was due in for surgery 26th but I was postponed at 6.30pm the night before and it’s been 2 very stressfull days getting it sorted for a small incident that happened 3 years ago! Today I was signed off and luckily given Friday as a night case which I may end up paying even more for 🙁 xx

Rach – Really? That’s awful. Sorry you had to put up with that.
Ohhh man, I have a history of depression (over for years though) and my op is on Monday. They better not postpone mine! x

Iv been to my GP about depression over a year ago but I was never prescribed anything. I’d just had a baby and was struggling a little. Will that matter?x

If you’ve had medication or taken medication they will want more evidence from your gp. I had been given tablets 7 years ago which I didn’t take but they still wanted more info. That was only part of the medical info they wanted. My friend had to get a doctors note because of similar before she was signed off to have surgery. They like you to be 6 months on or off the Meds. Had I of not taken matters into my own hands and made 60+ phonecards and countless emails between 3 sets of professionals I would be waiting till God knows when but I’m persistent and have waited a good 10 years for this for it to be taken away lol phone up tomorrow and enquire. I was honest from the start but gp took a while to get back and didn’t provide enough info! Hence the to and from being delayed then postponed! Xx

What were they missing if u don’t mind me asking? Sent them GP letter today they asked for more info as letter didn’t state what my anxiety was based on. This new letter is ready in the morning but I’ll be so upset if they change mind last minute!! Surely they saw ur medical stuff at pre op? They aren’t very good at handling issues like this it seems

Hi, I’ve just checked my procedure guide and it says in the Pre-Operative Information

    – Your GP will be contacted informing them that you have chosen to have surgery.

At my Pre-Op appointment it sounded like a sort of curtesy letter but how disappointing and inconvenient to have an operation postponed at such short notice!
