For those who stayed over at Preston did you use Ibis or Marriot?
I booked the Marriot for the night of my op but my admission time is 8am (very pleased with that as im greedy and dont wan’t to wait on an empty stomach) im from Newcastle but hubby works in Manchester 4 days a week so has an apartment there so heading down on train on sunday afternoon, if traffic is bad it could take a couple of hours to get there on the morning so would prefer to head to preston sunday night now so booking an extra night, the price difference is nearly £200 so just wondering how people found the Ibis? I want to be clean warm & comfortable and have never used Ibis before normaly opt for Marriot so would really appreciate peoples feedback, many thanks x

    Hi Claudine,
My husband and I stayed in the Marriott for two nights (evening before & night after oo), they couldn’t do enough to make sure my stay was comfortable.
We had a lovely meal in the bar the evening before, and the evening after my op and hubby could use the pool etc while I was having my procedure.

I’ve never stayed in that specific ibis before but I’ve stayed in different ibis’ before and they are very basis. Comfortable but basic. Im not sure though as I wasn’t post op when I stayed! Lol. You could always drive back to Manchester on the evening if hotel is way to expensive x

Thanks for your replys ladies, ive booked the Marriot for the extra night, the Ibis looks ok but not overly comfortable, we wont actualy arrive there until 10pm sunday night straight to bed and up at 6 to get ready for hospital so i thought it seemed daft spending so much extra but i wasn’t thinking bout hubby he will have to check out of one and into the other and move all our stuff while im in theatre its too much hassle, thanks again x

Sorry I’ve only just saw this! I stayed at the IBIS and compared to other ibis’s my partner has been to with work he couldn’t believe it was the same hotel chain. Basic but nice, comfy and absolutely amazing for the price! Literally less than 3 min drive to hospital from the ibis too xx

I had the Ibis hotel & I found it lovely! It’s a nice little place, staff are very helpful & friendly, basic rooms but very comfortable, kettle, tv & I found even the beds were comfy! Defiantly was worth the money for me also x

Hi all, we checked into the Marriot about 7pm lastnight then headed straight out for an Itallian at ‘The Orchard’ it was amazing only a 5 min drive away (just thought i would mention it for any pre-op girls looking for a nice meal the night before)
Got back at 10 with the intention of going straight to sleep but the room nextdoor were having a party and literaly shouting and screaming their heads off, we reported it to reception who knocked and it stopped……for 10 mins, they were braying on the door opposite and all went in that room (i think a big group had 4 or 5 rooms around ours, lots of kids with them who were running up and down the corridor playing knocky 9 doors, it stopped about 12 i think but they woke us at 5am singing outside our door was pretty gutted my admission was 8 so got up at 6, they all checked out today though so very peaceful night tonight, allthough i still can’t sleep for pain, not been back to sleep since i woke from the GA at about 11.15am, no regrets though just want the next 4 or 5 day to pass quickly as possible, think we were just unlucky im sure its probably a very peaceful place to stay, if there is a problem situation Claudine will allways find it!!! Ha ha, looking forward to breakfast tomorrow xxxx
