Mr Adamo consultation - my Q's and his A's!
(14 posts) (8 voices)-
Here are the questions I asked at my consultation and the answers Mr Adamo gave me: How many BA's have you performed?: I don't know the exact number but it's currently 8-10 per week so wil be in the thousands! How many have required revision?: You may be surprised but it's close to 0%! One or two have had to have treatment for CC but this is something that can happen and is not down to surgeons' technique. Which NHS hospitas have you worked at?: None in England but I taught at a University in Italy then decided to specialise in plastic surgery as it is something I love doing. (I have since done some research and found out he has written over 20 articles for medical journals both here and in Italy on the subject of plastic surgery so he is very well-respected in the medical field). Will you have an assistant operating with you?: No, I perform all the surgery myself including suturing and just have a scrub nurse passing instruments etc. How long have you worked with the anaesthetist carrying out my anaesthetic?: The hospital has various anaesthetists who come in, they are NHS aneasthetists who come in to do exra private work, I know them all very well and they are extremely competent. Do I need to wear a sports bra after surgery?: I think this is an 'old fashioned' idea, there is no real need for it but it is up to you if it makes you feel more comfortable. What type of suture and dressing do you use?: 4/0 Monocryl dissolvable suture and no bandaging, just a small dressing over the wounds. Do you use drains?: No Implant manufacturer?: Allergan CUI MHP (he stopped using PIP implants a long time ago due to the early rupture rate, in 5 years he hasn't seen an Allergan impant rupture yet). Do you recommend Arnica supplements or Bio Oil to help reduce bruising/scarring?: Bio Oil is fine but the homeopathic Arnica sold in the UK isn't of a strong enough concentration to make a difference in his opinion. Scarring results depend on skin type, tone & colour anyway. How long until I can drive after surgery?: 1 week. Does having breast implants affect mammography?: It makes it harder but not impossible. As long as you let the radiographer know you have implants then they can do a more detailed test than normal. Michelle xPosted 2 years ago #

Hi Michelle, this is very helpful and I'm glad you mentioned Mammography, sounds very selfish of me but I put that to the back of my mind which I obviously shouldn't .......... I didn't know about the 'not' driving for a week though !!! ooohhhhhhhhh xPosted 2 years ago #

Luckily my lovely childminder has offered to come and pick my daughter up and take her to school so I don't need to drive - she has also had a BA so is very understanding! She is also having the children overnight when I have my op so my other half doesn't have to worry about rushing back.Posted 2 years ago #

i love mr adamo. he did my boobies in june and they are an absolute work of art. he's a genius. i didnt wear a sports bra as he told me it was up to me. mine are done partially under the muscle and i think it helps them drop if you dont wear anything too supporting. i couldnt drive for over a week, not anywhere further than about 5/10 miles anyway. lots of pain but very much worth it
