Stitches

Hi everyone, i’m just asking for some advice!
I’m going to be 5 weeks post op tomorrow (Monday 9th) and i’ve just found i have one or two stitches still in my incision on my right hand side! I’m not sure what to do?
I obviously have my 6 week check a week tomorrow so shall i just wait till then? I’m just slightly worried as my incision isn’t healing properly around the stitch. My boyfriend gave it a little tug with tweezers just to see if it would come out easily but it hurt me straight away.. Any advice welcome thankyou 🙂

Hi Lauren, I am in the same situation as you. I have 2 stitches left in one and one in the other. The advice I was given was to wait until your 6 week check. Mine is this Thursday so hopefully they will be ok til then.x

Hi Emma, i’m glad i’m not the only one! I thought that might be the case, that’s why I’ve not bothered ringing anyone 🙂 I hope you get on okay! I’m very excited to get measured and buy my first bra :D! x

Hi ladies, I’m in the same situation but I’m only 2 weeks post op. One of the girls in this forum pulled them out with the tweezers and it healed fine but I’m not that brave to be honest. Please can you let me know on your 6 week check what the nurse advise? Many thanks xxx

It will come off eventually- mine did after about 10 weeks. Just don’t pull it. The more you are having showers etc and get it wet past 6weeks will start to break it down x

@rebekahrowley that is also what i was told at my consultation! I had no idea i would have any left until i had my one week post op appointment to get my strapping off and the nurse took about 5 stitches out, but she obviously missed a few :/ so no it’s not a stupid question 🙂 xxx

Aw thank you! I’m so nervous, seeing the surgeon next week. Was a t painful getting the stitches out?

@rebekahrowley i wouldn’t say it was painful, it was a bit sharp! But personally i was quite numb around the area so that helped. I’m not numb there anymore though which is why i’m slightly nervous for my check up on Monday if they’re going to take them out haha! Which surgeon are you going with? 🙂 xxx
