I thought I’d start a thread for anyone to add their tips for getting through the first week or so after surgery.
    Mine are:
    1. Make sure you have a pillow or two for the car journey home
    2. Do an online food shop to be delivered the day you are first home (ensuring someone is there to put it away!) high protein diet is a must!
    3. Get a soft ice pack – like the ones for first aid boxes, for the top of your chest / armpits.
    4. Have somebody available to do 99% of things for you for at least 4 days post op.
    5. Ensure your wardrobe is easy to put on yourself. E.g pyjama or trackie bottoms, tops that either do up at the front or you can pull up your body rather than over.
    6. Dry shampoo!!!!!!!!
    7. A cup with a straw, so much easier.
    8. Hot water bottle for your back
    9. Get your boyfriend to practise pony tails / buns before hand.
    10. Shave your legs / arms or get a wax. I couldn’t shave until 8/9 days post op.
    11. Paint your toenails, it’s amazing how the little things help you feel good. (NOT fingernails for operation)
    12. If you really want to spoil yourself book your hair in for a wash and blow dry 4/5 days post op! It’s amazing.
    13. Moisturiser or Vaseline under your armpits to stop breast band rubbing
    14. Roll on deodorant.
    15. Have lots of cuddles with your other half / children as this is the biggest thing I’ve missed!
