Wakeing up after surgery

Hey so I was wondering how people was after surgery I’m not staying over night so I was wondering how you was after was you ok to get up and go home ok or was you really sleepy and struggled as after surgery I’m going home how soon after was you let out ?
Do you just wake up like you normall would just tired but with in 10 mins your wide awake as I have two little ones was wondering , I no your not meant to bend or lean over after and haveing a baby worrying really about trying to get the little one out the cot ,also what was you pain like 1out of 10

I was really good afterwards. Was sleepy which is to be expected. Think you’ve got to stay a minimum of 4 Hours. In this time I slept on and off but by the time I was able to go home I was okay. I went out for food on the night and felt okay just sore. Pain wasn’t too bad either and I had under the muscle, didn’t have pain killers in the hospital afterwards and just took some before bed. Even though I was fine I don’t think I would of been up for looking after little ones xx

Probably not best to be on your own afterwards. Think they like someone with you for the first 24 hours atleast because of the anaesthetic. I would get someone to help you the first couple of days to be safe x

Thanks for putting my mind at ease yes think your right about getting someone to help with the kids pain is my biggest fear wakeing up in agony x

Hi I woke up straight away – stayed for an hour then went home .. I was in agony painscale 8:10 it made labour seem a breeze. But others seem to have no pain, I suffered muscle boob cramps which apparently on 30% of people get, id never heard of this the minute they told me about it after surgery i knew i would get haha .. Then I was sick for 24hrs from the anaesthetic .. Day 3 somehow god knows how I went back to work (no lifting) from day three it got better. I was lucky I also had full use of my arms although I was told not to use them, how big is your baby as your not meant to lift over 10llb .. Id say you will need somebody for at least two weeks with a young child..x

Everybody reacts different Hun. It’s hard to say how you will feel after. But you will be drowsy for a little while I’ve had two generals I felt groggy at first but after a drink & some toast felt loads better. some suffer from sickness sometimes.im a daycase too and going home as soon as I can . I’d rather that and be in my own home 😀 Just be prepared more so for at home. You will need a hand after. Not advised and lifting etc for at least a week. Do you have someone to help with your kids Hun? You don’t want to do yourself any harm either Hun rest is vital . When it comes to pain I’m trying not to think of that too much just deal with it at the time and have the painkillers they give u . Xxx

Hi demi, after my surgery I was totally sleepy! The nurse have to wake me up to drink water. I was pretty sick couldn’t move my head. If I do move I throw up. Good thing I stayed over ing because if not I don’t know how I manage to get home with four small childrens at home. The next day I still the same really sleepy and sore couldn’t eat. If u stayed overnight the discharge is 10am but the nurses know I can’t get up they let me stay till mid day till my husband picked me up. I had my op in London Fitzroy. It’s all depends how your body react to the general anaesthetic. I felt pain killers didn’t work for me. And I was bloated lol literally look like pregnant. Without my husband I can’t manage the whole week with the kids. Still struggling now as my husband back to work. I manage to have trick to let my 16 months old twins to climbed on their high chairs and push chair. The real struggle for me is pushing the pushchair as I have to picked up my two kids to school. It’s tough. But I’m sure you will manage just fine. Good luck.

Just so you have an idea of the other end of the scale I was a day case with no intention of staying overnight. I’ve had 3 other genera anaesthetic’s with no issues, however this one wasn’t great at all. I ended up staying in because I was bad, they had to give me 2 anti sickness injections and I was still sick and I ended up on oxygen and my blood pressure dropped (again nothing I’ve ever had before). I could not get myself up from the bed and needed help with that for a few days. I didn’t have any stomach issues like some others with the codeine but it just took me by surprise how hard it was. I contemplated not writing this because I didn’t wanna make you nervous, but then I thought it best to show you that it could be harder and especially having kids, you really need someone around at the beginning to help you in case youre not one of the fortunate ones that find it a breeze. A few days in though and all will be good even if it is tough to start. Either way you’ll get an amazing result and it’ll all be worth it, just don’t overdo it because the first part of the healing is the most crucial and we’ve all spent a fair amount on these to look amazing. I woke up absolutely fine but in quite a bit of pain. I was wide awake and only managed to sleep once they gave me Tramadol to knock me out for the night lol. I had no sickness but couldn’t move on my own whatsoever! Everyone is different though. Good luck with the surgery x

Thankyou for all your honest opinions, yes my partner could have the girls if I asked him to have a week or 2 of work sounds like it would be a good idea haveing a 8month old baby and a 2year old , not sure how much time to book of work as I’m a hairdresser and obviously it’s lifting hair dryers and moving around a lot and stood on my feet all day , I’m hopeing I have no pain as I’m a total wimp with pain and can’t have codine as I’m allergic so I found out a couple of months back ???????? , thankyou girls for getting back to me means a lot xx

@demi if you can’t have codiene they will give you another type of analgesia, im allergic to tramadol so won’t be having that but the nurse has told me already they will give something else. Xx

ThAts ok then was panicking that I could only have a paracetamol xx

Hey hun I’m a hairdresser and they told me 2 weeks off work unless you can guarantee you won’t be doing clients. I went back early and shut down my column. I was 2wpo on Wednesday and still don’t think I’d be comfortable doing clients I think the first one will be the worst xx

Oh no well I only work 2 days a week so that’s not to bad with haveing time of maybe best to book a couple of then :/ xx
