I had my op on the 28th april, and before my op and during I couldn’t have been happier!!! Everyone was amazing!!!!! – I went to my one week post op and the nurse was fine with me, told me everything was ok…. I then went back at 2 weeks and the nurse was horrible!!!!!! She was a nasty piece of work… Well no not so much nasty, she was an arrogant so and so, very stuck up. She said my left incision looked infected but she didn’t no.:. So she swapped it and said Max 48 hours then I’ll hear back either if it is Infected or not…. She asked if I smoke and I said I used to quite heavy and now only 2 a day, to which she replied “well u might Aswel have just carried on smoking the amount you were, only quitting completly will help” I was thinking, u silly cow, she obviously has never smoked before and doesn’t no how much of an achievement it is going from 20 a day to 2!!! I walked out of there n was in tears…. I rang my partner and he was fumin!!!! We had just spent five grand, I did not expect to be spoken to like that!!!!! – I left it and waited my phone call to see if I needed antibiotics! She put a dressing on it and it was a special dressing like a yellow stain one, which has to come off after 4 days which she didn’t tell me! (This all happened last week Wednesday 13th may) on Sunday my incision was weeping a yellow puss and my whole breast went rock hard… I hadn’t heard anything back about my swab yet so I called the out of hours nurse and she asked for pics… Pics were sent and she said I needed to see someone… So she was ment to get someone to ring me back: and advised I went on antibiotics. So I waited all monday- Tuesday NO CALL!!!!! Still infected!!!!! I then had to go to my own a&e and they dressed it and sorted ME some antibiotics!!! (The nurse told me not to go to my own doctor for anti biotics because apparently without the swap they don’t no what they need to treat) – but I had no choice! I was left with a weeping incision, not sure what dressing to put on it and I had to sort it all out myself and pay for antibiotics!!! &&& STILL nearly 9 days on, I still haven’t heard anything about my swab!! I have another appointment on the 27th and im actually dreading it!!! I never want to have contact with mya again!!!! It’s such a shame cause Dr traynor was amazing…. I just feel very let down by the incompetent, rude members of staff. (Not all just a fair few) … Sorry ladies just ranting!!! Anyone else feel mya are just money money money, and once they have it they don’t give a damn!!!!!

I have done a lot of research and the only thing that worries me is myas aftercare! I think you should put in an official complaint! Xxx

@megbony I am so sorry to hear of your experience and I would recommend making an appointment to speak with the clinic Manager to voice your concerns, as it is in their interest for you to be happy and healthy following your op. It may be this nurse needs speaking to but if no one makes sure their experience of the nurse is heard then MYA won’t know. This could also be said of the clinic manager if they don’t respond or deal with you in a sympathetic manner. If you still have no joy but as a last resort, I would email their CEO/Director as they need to be aware of this conduct. It is not acceptable but do try give them a chance to rectify things. This could just be 1 nurse giving them a bad name. The reason I say this is, my clinic in Leeds has been absolutely amazing. From pre all the way to me being 6 week post op now. They have contacted me regularly just to see how I am, they did have to cancel my 6 week check but we’re so amazing in fitting me in the next day and I am overwhelmed by their caring natures especially my PC Louisa, nurse Jenny and surgeon Mr Kazzazi. I can’t praise them enough and I am just sorry you did not experience the same. I hope you manage to raise this with the right person and your faith in MYA can be reinstated. Good luck honey and we’ll done on cutting down with your smoking….I know exactly how hard it is to break that habit whether it be stopping altogether or cutting down. It’s no excuse but I feel the nurse may have been having a bad day which we can all relate to however you should not suffer for that. X

@megbony, I agree with Katrina. Make a formal complaint about that nurse and the way you have been treated. That kind of behaviour after you have shelled out thousands of pounds is completely unacceptable. Hope your incision heals soon. Good luck and let us know how everything goes. xxx

That’s an awful story and I hope you get the results you want and that you are not in any pain now. Hope you don’t regret your decision to have the procedure!

Thank you so much for your replies ladies!! I will defiantly inform them, I just felt after this experience that maybe they wouldn’t care less, as they haven’t been very concerned or sympathic over the infection, the nurse I had the second time started getting stressed out cause she didn’t no where certain things were, like the dressings ect and was like ” I bloody hate this place, I don’t normally work from here” I felt like she had something against me… Or just wanted someone to take her bad day and stinking attitude out on! – I wouldn’t be suprised if she hasn’t even sent the swab off!! Thanks though girls I will defiantly speak to them about this! I’m still over the moon ive had the surgery, and I am thrilled with my results. I just wish I could see traynor every appointment I hace!! Xxx

Definitely complain as it’s not on. But don’t let it ruin the whole experience for you. One grumpy unhappy moo shouldn’t represent the whole company. You get them in any work places. My nurse in Bristol was always amazing. I’m sure they can replace her anytime. Plenty other nurses would be happy to have a job in her place I’m sure.

I am in a similar boat, I have gone back and forth now 1&1/2 drive I have 2 young kids, one day im having one breast drained because there’s a blood build up …. Then I get home and it’s weeping puss, one day told they should be all covered up, next the air should be getting to them! Im getting really angry now and panicky I understand there can be complications but I’m due to go away in 3 weeks, which will be 6 weeks post op which I was told in the beginning would be absolutely fine! Now there’s a Chance I may have to have the surgery re done! It’s really getting to me now! X

I had a similar experience with one of the nurses there too I left so upset and my partner was fuming after seeing me so upset! Luckily I didn’t see the same nurse the last time , she was really quite rude over the phone to me aswel and has forgot to book me my post op twice!! So tracked down twice without being booked. Luckily the receptionists are so fab and got me in. I felt like complaining but thought it’d be pointless 🙁 xxx
