When can you go back on your contraceptive pill?

Hello girls,

Just wanted to ask if anyone knew when you can start taking your contraceptive pill again after your operation. I think it is two weeks but wanted to double check? X

Hi I asked my nurse after my op. She said the next day. I was taking so many pills for the first 3 days I didn’t bother. I restarted once I’d stopped with the painkillers on day 4 x

I never did stop taking mine i was told carry on taking them x

I have the implant and they never mentioned anything about it. I think it’s more the fact that the antibiotics can stop the contraceptive working … so probably give it about 2 weeks post op until your know your protected again and the antibiotics are out of your sysytem 🙂

Thank you girls, I have messaged my PC just to double check, as I forgot to ask my nurse at my one week post op, I haven’t had a reply yet, but hopefully I was right in the first place (two weeks post op). I will comment back in this forum to let everyone know what they say so in future if anyone else is wondering how long they have to wait, they will know x
