Private messaging update
We have taken on board your feedback and improved privates messaging so you can only message your MYA Space friends. We believe that this is an important step to ensure you can communicate freely with the people you want to talk to. Have a look below for more information about how to add friends on MYA Space.
Become friends on MYA Space!
We’ve now added the feature to have friends on MYA Space! If you’re familiar with other social networking websites you’ll find this very easy to use but here’s a walkthrough just in case.
To add a friend to your MYA Space Profile
Click on the User’s profile you wish to add. The best way to do this is via a forum post by the user.
Then simply click the “Add Friend” button under their name.
Once you’ve requested the user as a friend, they will receive an email informing them of this.
Once they accept your friend request you can now be able to interact with each other on MYA space and view pictures etc.
Share your pictures on MYA Space!
We’ve been working hard to bring you the best picture sharing experience possible! We understand that all photos are personal to you and we allow you to have full control over each photo through a variety of privacy settings.
You will need to be logged in to your account to access this feature. The picture section is found in your profileunder ‘Album’
To upload a new picture
Click Upload Picture.
Once the page has loaded, click “browse” and select a picture to upload from your computer.
Make sure you select the correct privacy setting for you. Each setting has a description when you select it so feel free to have a look at them all to see which one is most suited for you.
Once the picture has been uploaded you can add a description and choose whether to allow comments on it.
Click Save and you’re done!
How to view other peoples pictures
Click on that persons Profile.
Then click Album in the grey sub-bar.
From here you will be able to see the images they have chosen share.

1 to 1 Private Messaging
This functionality will allow you to contact another member of the forum directly, if you want to take a particular conversation further without making it public to the whole forum.
Profiles
Your profile allows you to list some basic details about yourself and your procedures, so that other users can make contact with you and offer the support that you need. Moving forward you will be able to connect as ‘friends’. We’ll also add more changes to the information you can share, dependent on your feedback.
Mentioning
Similar to Facebook and Twitter, if you want to mention a certain user in your forum post, you can do this simply by putting @username. Your message will then show up in their ‘Latest Activity’ information, and they will be alerted you have mentioned them.
Status Updates
Again, like Facebook, you can update other users on your status i.e ‘2 days to surgery!!’
Email Alerts
When a user sends you a 1 to 1 message or mentions you, you will get an email update sent through to your inbox to save you from missing anything.
Avatars
You can now upload a picture to your profile.
Favourites
You can now mark other user’s posts as ‘favourites’ to keep a log of the most useful information you find in the community.
Moving Forward
We will have more developments to introduce over the coming months and eventually we will be adding the ability for you all to post pictures which will be useful for those wanting to share before and after photos.
We will also look to include blogging functionality so you can eventually set up your own blogs to write about your cosmetic surgery research and experiences!
