What are Dermal Fillers?

• MYA offers the Juvederm ® range of dermal fillers. These are temporary, hyaluronic acid fillers and have been proven to last for up to a year before being completely broken down and absorbed by the body.
• Dermal fillers are made of a smooth consistency, injectable  gel that is specially formulated to add volume to facial tissue and restore a smoother appearance to the face

What can they do for me?

• Dermal Fillers are used in specific areas to enhance your natural appearance by making the skin look fuller.
They are most commonly used to:

- Smooth out lines and wrinkles
- Add fullness to lips and cheeks
- Fill in scars
- Add volume to sunken areas of the face

How do they work?

• The filler is administered via injections into your chosen area and this process usually takes just a few minutes. You will need to allow time to consult with your aesthetic nurse practitioner prior to treatment
• They work to plump the area, reinstating the skins moister content and increasing the production of collagen and elastin.

When will I see results?

• Results from temporary dermal fillers can be seen immediately after treatment. There is no need for recovery time however you may have some redness and swelling which usually settles within 48 hours.

How long do the results last for?

• Juvederm ® has been known to break down slower than some other types of dermal filler.
• The results of dermal fillers are evident immediately and usually last for up to 12 months, during which time filler is gradually broken down and absorbed by the body.
• Further dermal filler treatments are then recommended to maintain a youthful appearance and skin hydration.

Who will administer Dermal Fillers?

• Your treatment will be administered by one of our experienced,  aesthetic nurse practitioners.
• You will be able to meet with them before the treatment goes ahead to discuss your desired results.

Are Dermal Fillers painful?

• Dermal fillers may cause some discomfort during and after the procedure but this, as always is dependent on the pain threshold of the individual.
• Juvederm ® itself contains local anaesthetic and your nurse practitioner will numb the treatment area using a topical anaesthetic cream to further minimise discomfort.
• A dental block will be available for lip filler treatments. This will completely numb the area.
• You can expect some mild swelling, redness and tenderness for a couple of days after treatment.
