What is Microdermabrasion?

• Medical Microdermabrasion is a gentle and effective method of exfoliating the skin without the use of chemicals.
• The microdermabrasion device is passed over the skin, emitting a highly controlled flow of micro crystals to exfoliate your chosen area.
• They are medical grade crystals made of aluminium oxide.

What can it do for me?

• Microdermabrasion is great for all skin types and on areas of both the face and body to restore radiance
• The treatment is typically used to restore and treat:
- Dry or patchy skin
- Oily skin
- Blocked or congested pores (whiteheads or blackheads)
- Uneven pigmentation
- Sun damaged, dull complexions
- Improve the tone and texture of the skin

How does it work?

• The hand held device is passed over the skin and a highly controlled flow of micro crystals is emitted to exfoliate your chosen area.
• The used crystals and dead skin cells are then drawn away from the skin by a vacuum.
• The treatment stimulates collagen to encourage the production of new skin cells.
• Usually the treatment takes 30 minutes, or more on larger areas such as the décolletage and neck.

When will I see results?

• If you do not have any specific problems with your skin, a microdermabrasion treatment can simply be used to exfoliate away the dull skin cells instantly leaving your skin feeling smooth and soft.
• For treatment of mild skin conditions you will be prescribed a course of treatments in order to achieve the best results. This will usually be a course of 6 treatments with 2 week intervals.
• Once your course is complete, it is advised to have treatments every 1 to 6 months to maintain the results

Who will administer the treatment?

• Your Microdermabrasion treatment will be administered by one our experienced practitioners.
• You will be able to meet with them before the treatment to discuss your results and decide on a recommended course of treatments.

Is it painful?

• Most patients would not describe this procedure as painful but as always, this depends upon the pain threshold of the individual. Many do say it is relaxing and much like having a facial.
• There is no downtime after treatment but you should protect your skin with a good quality moisturiser and high factor sun cream.
