What is BOTOX®/Muscle Relaxants?

• BOTOX®, the non-surgical treatment for fine lines and wrinkles, has been formally approved for cosmetic use under the name of Vistabel®.
• It is a prescription medicine made of injectable botulinum toxin type A and is formulated to relax muscles and smooth expression lines
• BOTOX® has been used in the medical world for years and is FDA approved.
• It has been used to treat a range of medical conditions including Muscle Spasms and Chronic migraines.

What can it do for me?

• It is typically used to refine expression lines around the eyes, across the forehead and between the eyebrows.
• It is also used to control hyperhidrosis, excessive sweating typically of underarm area.
 
How does it work?

• Once the area is prepared, it is administered through a series of very fine injections into the muscle.
• This will temporarily relax the muscles that are causing those troublesome lines and it is also said that it can often prevent new lines from forming.

When will I see results?

• The results become visible within 7-10 days and continue to improve for up to a month.

How long does BOTOX® last?

• The treatment typically lasts between 3 and 6 months, although individual results may vary.
• Subsequent injections have been proven to last progressively longer.
• When used for Hyperhidrosis results will typically last up to 6 months.

What will happen if I choose not to continue treatments?

• If you choose against subsequent treatments, the fine lines and wrinkles will gradually return to the way they looked before.

Who will administer my treatment?

• At MYA you will be seen and treated by one of our fully trained nurse prescribers who will assess your concerning areas and prescribe you with a custom amount of botox per treatment area.

Is BOTOX® painful?

• Discomfort is usually minimal and brief though this depends on your  individual pain threshold.
• Botox does not require downtime after treatment however you may have small red bumps where the area has been injected. These will usually subside within a few hours of the treatment.
