'Honesty is the best policy with cosmetic surgery'

31/12/2007

Being open about cosmetic surgery will bring about the most positive reactions, it has been reported.

The New York Times claimed that despite receiving compliments from their peers, many women try to lie about what work they have done.

Dr Brent Moelleken, a cosmetic surgeon from Beverly Hills, California, told the newspaper: "The people who are the most open about their plastic surgery have the most positive experience. If you''re open about it, you''re unembarrassable."

Many cosmetic surgery patients claimed that their friends and family were highly complimentary of their new appearance, with some women even asking for their surgeon''s card.

A number of patients also said that in due time, cosmetic surgery procedures are mostly forgotten.

The stigma surrounding surgery has largely disappeared, according to a number of reports, meaning the industry is growing and people are increasingly turning to surgical enhancements as a way of reducing the signs of ageing or simply improving their appearance.
